Green Building

What is Green building?

"Building Green" began when a small percentage of socially conscious builders focused on energy efficiency and material consumption. Today, green building is the new standard for quality construction, aided by third party certification groups such as Leed (Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design), the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Green Building Program and EarthCraft House. These green standards provide measurable third party certification that the house has met certain criteria involving both building design and construction.

The techniques used used in green building employ good building practices and improved materials. The results are homes that can reduce energy consumption and waste while enhancing homeowners’ quality of life, by improving comfort and air quality.
